SyllabusEconomics- grade 11-12
This class we will examine the way in which economics affects the lives of individuals and how individuals, through their economic choices, shape their world.  You will notice several recurrent themes in the study of economics: scarcity & choice, productivity, economic systems, markets & prices, supply & demand, market failures, role of govt, unemployment, monetary policy, & gross domestic product
It is strongly suggested that you have a notebook for this class, a pen, pencil, your textbook, and book cover for your textbook.  These books are extra large, so the regular size cloth covers will not work.
Textbook: Holt Economics- these books are fairly new, so in order to keep them in good shape a book cover is required.  A book contract will be completed with the understanding damages will be assessed for any misuse of the text.
Grading: a grading scale is located throughout the room.  Here’s the breakdown on how your work  will be scored= Test 45%- Quizzes/Projects 30%- Daily Work 15%- Notes 10%.
Tests= May be a combination of multiple choice, fill in the blank, short answer, true/false, matching, and essay.  Tests are given at the end of each chapter.  You will also have a Semester Final covering all chapters completed in the semester. You will have the use of a note card.
Quizzes/Projects= Quizzes are given at random over sections within the chapter of study.  They may consist of multiple choices; fill in the blank, matching, and short answer, or true/false.  Projects may be assigned throughout the course.  These may be as a small group or individual basis
Daily Work= When assignments are given they will be collected or corrected the next day, unless otherwise stated.  It is expected that you will have your work completed when it is due.  I grade papers handed in on time.  The daily work is to enhance your learning and comprehension of the material.  Most of the daily work is in the form of worksheets or questions assigned at the end of each section or chapter.
All work for this class is handed in the baskets located in the back of the room.  If you happen to miss any assignments that were handed out, you may find extra copies located in the baskets in the front of the room.
Notes= are to help you through the information in your text and are great study guides
 
Extra Credit= every week there is a question on the board to answer and every now and then there will be other opportunities such as word finds, crosswords, etc.
Since this is only a semester class and the text is meant for a year long course, Chapters may be picked at random.  We will more than likely complete the following chapters: 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,11,12,13,14,15
